As you may already know, this August I am traveling to Lima, Peru for a semester abroad at la Pontifica Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) and I couldn't be more excited. My departure date (August 10th) is fast approaching in less than 6 weeks! I have kept busy this summer with my full time job at the Elm Grove DPW, making sure every item is in place and all the cogs are aligned for my upcoming trip, and although it has been stressful the payoff is near.
For those who don't know I will be entering my junior year at UW-Madison this fall. I am majoring in Spanish and am completing the prerequisites for the PharmD program at UW that I hope to enter in Fall of 2016. I have never traveled internationally so I will be navigating a new country as well as a new university. I chose the UW IAP exchange program in Peru because I was looking for a very individual and independent experience because it is important to me to learn to adapt to many different types of learning environments. Another reason I chose Lima is because of the rich history: from being home to one of the greatest ancient civilizations, the Inca, to the colonial period that marked a drastic change in almost every aspect of South American life, to the political turmoil of the last century and a half. It promises to be a markedly different experience than any other study abroad trip.
